The Weekly Book Round Up! 7th December

I'm finally embracing the spirit of Christmas with a few festive touches to the blog! I've started writing my cards, now to actually start my Christmas shopping... This week has been a bit crazy for me real world wise so I've barely had time to read, but. I had my first driving lesson which was scary and exciting! Anyway, here is a round up of some of the news stories popping up on my radar this week, as well as a catch up of what's been happening on the blog. Enjoy!

In the News

Holly Smale has unveiled the cover for the next Geek Girl instalment, Picture Perfect. See the cover reveal below and the release date below! SO excited to read more of Harriet's adventures.

Allegiant by Veronica Roth has won the Goodreads Best Young Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction category. Read the story over on FangirlDaily. Meanwhile the Best Young Adult novel prize went to Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, Best Graphic novel to Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and Best Middle Grade and Children's went to House of Hades by Rick Riordan. See the full list of winners over on Goodreads.

Published this week are books including The Game by Anders de la Motte and Crash Into You by Katie McGarry.

On the blog

This week I posted my review of One More Day, a collection of short stories by various authors. It was a really refreshing read for me and satisfied my time travel kick!

On Tuesday I took part in Top Ten Tuesday which this week focused on 2014 releases we're excited about.

Wednesday saw me look back at my November reviews and decide on my Book of the Month.

On Thursday I posted my review of Crash Into You by Katie McGarry, the latest book in the Pushing the Limits series. I also shared my book playlist for the book this week.

What I've Been Reading

I finished reading Pawn by Aimee Carter on Sunday which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's such a clever book! My review will be posted late Decemeber/early January.

I finally started Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. I'd picked it up a month or so ago and liked what I'd read, but just hadn't had the time to commit to reading it. Now I have a bit of time I'm diving in! I'm still not far but my gosh, it's so good! The main character, Celaena, is incredible.

I also did some sneaky book buying this week when I caught a few Kindle bargains. After Eden by Helen Douglas was a book I wanted to read after seeing Daisy's review, and I also grabbed Stealing Phoenix by Joss Sterling because I really enjoyed Finding Sky when I read it earlier this year.

What have you been reading this week? Any news stories catch your eye? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Ah, love the new Geek Girl cover! I'm guessing from the stars and stripes on her glasses that it'll be set in the US - intriguing! ;)

  3. Yay for GG3! So, so excited. I'm also pleased that E&P won the GR YA award, especially after all the fuss about it getting banned in the US.
