Waiting on Wednesday (#14): Tinder by Sally Gardner

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine and gives bloggers the chance to highlight future releases we're looking forward to.

Tinder by Sally Gardner
Published: 7th November 2013 (Indigo)

Plot summary: Otto Hundebiss is tired of war, but when he defies Death he walks a dangerous path. A half beast half man gives him shoes and dice which will lead him deep into a web of dark magic and mystery. He meets the beautiful Safire - pure of heart and spirit, the scheming Mistress Jabber and the terrifying Lady of the Nail. He learns the powers of the tinderbox and the wolves whose master he becomes. But will all the riches in the world bring him the thing he most desires? Fairy tales are often the cruellest stories of all; in this exquisite novel Sally Gardner writes about great love and great loss.

This is a retelling of Hans Christian Anderson's The Tinderbox which I'll admit isn't a story I'm familiar with, but I love Sally Gardner and she spoke about this book at Leakycon in the summer and it sounded like a really exciting project.

What are you waiting on this week? let me know in the comments!

  2. This is really interesting and dark sounding and the first I have heard of it. I also am not familiar with the fairy tale but I will be looking into it, too. Great pick! My WoW.
