Top Ten Tuesday: Books With a School Setting

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish and today's topic was top ten books in a setting of your choice. Now books set in schools is probably a pretty easy choice but books set in schools are my absolute favourite so I couldn't resist!

 1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K Rowling
Okay so this is the majorly obvious choice but I couldn't not include Hogwarts now, could I?!

2. Insignia by S. J. Kincaid
The Pentagonal Spire is school meets government training facility. School with virtual reality simulations? Yes please!

3. Spy School by Stuart Gibbs
The title says it all. Who wouldn't want to go to a spy school?

4. The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
School can be pretty tough when a) you're dumped in a foreign country where school is totally different and b) there's a killer ghost on the loose.

5. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
A school for witches, vampires, you name it! I really need to read the rest of this series because I adored this book.

6. I'd Tell You I Love You but Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter
Again, more spies! Only they're all girl spies who are pretty badass.

7. A Really Awesome Mess by Trish Cook and Brendan Halpin
This one is a bit different because it's a school slash inpatient therapy unit. This will be the reality for a lot of teens so I'm really glad this book tackled that!

8. Looking for Alaska by John Green
I'm all over boarding school, especially when the students are brilliant at breaking the rules and turning it into a super cool place to be.

9. The Ashbury/Brookfield Series by Jaclyn Moriarty
This is my favourite ever series which focuses on two schools. Ashbury, the fancy private school, and Brookfield, the not so fancy state school. Students at the two schools become penpals for a school project. Seriously, just go and read these books now.

10. Wonder by R. J. Palacio
This is a great tale of being the underdog at school and learning to be yourself.

What are your favourite books with a school setting? And what setting did you pick if you did a top ten this week? Let me know in the comments!

    1. I nearly did boarding schools because if a book is set in a boarding school I am usually 100% sold, but I wanted to include a few other favourites set in regular schools. It's such a hard topic with so many awesome books! Can't wait to see yours :D thanks for commenting!

    1. Can't beat a good school setting! Glad I kept it a bit more open and didn't limit myself to boarding school because it meant I got to sneak a few other favourites in there :D like Wonder! Which is such a fantastic book.
